Try as hard as I might, I can’t stop drawing things that are considered cute.
I want my style to be edgier and crazy, but I end up with Mr Alligator Hat Salesman here most of the time instead. Sigh.
Perhaps I should just embrace it?
hi amy! thanks for the call today! sorry if i didn’t sound cheerful as i should, too many things on my mind which i should learn from now on just how to shut them out when there’s a call from an important friend faraway! hope to have one of your designs at my place one day or i’ll be so bummed. you’re so gifted amy and i just one a piece of your creation too!
it’s poking fun, at salesmen, who could be alligators (metaphorically true often times), who like carrying women’s purses (hmm..) so that is edgy. and yet cute! we asians can never run away from cute, so we have to use it to our best ability. ANd you kick ass with this edgycute business :)
I feel your pain. I too am afflicted with the keeps-creating-cute syndrome. This syndrome has only very recently been acknowledged in medical circles and was poo-poohed for years by people who just thought cute was always great. Nice to know there are others out there experiencing the same problem.
We’re here for you Amy, hang in there!
Oh Amy and ZukZuk it’s like you’ve peeked in my head. Starting separate etsy shop has helped, but I think I need to go further and start a separate blog for the non-cute as well. I need to compartmentalize it so that cute doesn’t infect the other bits.
